WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP

WITH NATURAL ENGLAND

AS A BIODIVERSITY NET GAIN (BNG) PILOT

DELIVERING NATURE-BASED

SOLUTIONS

For local developers and planning authorities, the Wendling Beck Environment Project provides an opportunity to meet Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements by selling off-site biodiversity units. It is also one of Natural England’s BNG pilot projects.

PURCHASE

BIODIVERSITY NET GAIN (BNG) UNITS

AT A FULLY MANAGED OFF-SITE HABITAT BANK.

A pioneering project for the restoration of UK biodiversity. Wendling Beck is helping to develop policy thinking on monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) for nature recovery.

Natural England has scrutinised the Wendling Beck BNG baseline surveys and habitat management plans, so investors can feel confident that units fully comply with this new policy.

A diverse mosaic of habitats has already been created on the ground and the project continues to grow and evolve.

CASE STUDIES:

THE PROJECT WILL HAVE A

SIGNIFICANT

CARBON BENEFIT

Wendling Beck has completed high-resolution baselines for both above and below-ground carbon.

As the landscape changes, we will be working to continually track and monitor the carbon that the land is sequestering. This includes collaborating with the University of East Anglia (UEA) in their pioneering research on soil carbon.

There will also be a considerable reduction in carbon due to the change in farming systems and the reduction in fossil fuels, agrochemicals and synthetic fertilisers.
